Get to know Outpost Matchmove Supervisor Ashwani Patel, and Prep Supervisors Manmohan Singh and Makarand Patel

With the Outpost team in Mumbai continuing to grow, we take the opportunity to introduce you to some of our wonderful department supervisors who work hard to help bring our feature and episodic projects to life.

Want to join Ashwani, Manmohan, Makarand and the rest of our talented India team? Take a look at our careers page for our opportunities!

Matchmove Supervisor, Ashwani Patel, has been leading the matchmove team at Outpost for nine months now. Of joining Outpost, Ashwani says: “I had heard great things about Outpost and was looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to work with some of the most talented people in the visual effects industry.”

Ashwani leads our talented team of matchmovers to develop creative solutions to solve complex production challenges: “I want to foster a collaborative environment where my matchmove team can work together to create the best possible results.” Ashwani and the team have worked on projects such as upcoming dystopian drama, Wool and The Wheel of Time S2 for Amazon.

Makarand Patel has almost 15 years’ experience in the industry after being introduced to visual effects by his older brother who taught him how to rotoscope. It wasn’t long into his career when Makarand started at Trace VFX, and here he worked his way up to a Supervisor role. He says: “I was a Supervisor at Trace for over four years; it was a great opportunity to work with established industry professionals, as well as gain exposure working on high-profile projects and interacting with cross-site clients.”

Before joining Outpost in February 2022, Makarand knew some of his friends who had joined the Mumbai team: “I had seen some friends in the industry shaping their skills and personality while working at Outpost; it always gave me a positive feeling about the studio.”

Of his time at Outpost since he joined, Makarand says: “Outpost makes a big effort to shape and build upon the team’s skills. The people here are friendly and cooperative – they always help when I approach anyone on the team. The cross-site Heads of Departments are also very supportive, and I am enjoying learning and working with everyone here.”

Working alongside Makarand is Manmohan Singh, who, after working almost 10 years at his previous studio, was looking for a new challenge: “I knew I wanted to work with a studio that is involved in high-end VFX and provides a good work / life balance for their people. When I heard Outpost were hiring for a Prep Supervisor, I knew it was my best option. Having been at Outpost for four months now, I know that Outpost not only talks about the work / life balance, but that it is one of their core values, alongside innovation and providing support to their people.”

Manmohan started in the industry after following a passion for films like Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings when he was younger. Now, as a Prep Supervisor, Manmohan is looking to continue developing the team’s collaborative and focused culture. He says: “I want to empower each team member within the department to continue to learn and grow. Already it is clear the team is very supportive and hard-working.”
