Project Overview

We're proud to announce that we delivered 480 visual effects shots for the Sky Cinema action-thriller, Final Score, released on 7 September 2018.

Under the watchful eye of Director Scott Mann, Outpost VFX Supervisor Marcin Kolendo and Head of Production Gez Hixson, the Outpost team worked across the full gamut of visual effects, delivering seamless 3D and 2D set extensions, digital crowds of 35,000 agents, prosthetic enhancement, head replacements, enormous 3D asset builds, digital gore and much more.

"We contributed so much to the film from scratch, and to see it coming out with good reviews is very special," says Marcin Kolendo, Senior VFX Supervisor.

"I think we grew as a company because of this project. I think we evolved as a team because it was a really heavy show, so I’m happy to see it on the big screen now and hopefully everyone else is going to like our VFX."

In the film a group of heavily armed criminals take control of a stadium packed with 35,000 football fans. Ex-soldier Michael Knox (Dave Bautista) is forced to use skills from his military background and everything at his disposal to save the spectators, including the life of a fallen comrade's daughter.

"Funnily enough, I watched Cobra with Sylvester Stallone recently and it’s tongue in cheek sometimes," continues Kolendo, "but the scenes are really brutal as well – lots of blood and things being stabbed and that sort of thing happening.

"It’s the same in Final Score, and I think even the reviews were talking about the variety of it – you can sit there and laugh a little bit. It’s a really good popcorn flick with 80s action influences."

From our 80-seat facility in Bournemouth, UK, we worked on the film for 12 months and, additionally, took equity in the film. Duncan McWilliam, founder and CEO of Outpost VFX, served as Executive Producer.

It was a pleasure working with Director Scott Mann and once again with The Fyzz Facility, with whom we worked on 47 Meters Down, The Strangers: Prey at Night and also on the upcoming thriller, Three Seconds.

"I want to thank the dedicated team here at Outpost, because they worked really hard," concludes Kolendo.

"There were ups and downs here and there but I think we achieved the seemingly impossible with such a small team at the time."
