VES Awards 2021: Outpost VFX Nominated for News of the World

VES Award winners will be announced in a virtual ceremony on 6/7 April

News of the World has been nominated for Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature at the 19th Annual VES Awards.

The film, which launched internationally on Netflix in February 2021, features over 600 VFX shots delivered by Outpost and an in-house team.

The large body of work was largely made up of 'invisible' visual effects such as environments, creatures and face replacements.

“Traditions find a way to persist,” said Lisa Cooke, VES Board Chair. “With vision and a lot of hard work, we are proud to host our annual celebration of the artistry, ingenuity and passion of visual effects practitioners around the world – virtually. We are seeing best in class work that elevates the art of storytelling and engages the audience in new and innovative ways. The VES Awards is the only venue that showcases and honors these outstanding artists across a wide range of disciplines, and we are extremely proud of all our nominees!”

Alongside being recognised by the Visual Effects Society, News of the World was also longlisted for both the Academy Awards and the BAFTA Film Awards, with nominations for the latter to be announced in March.

The 19th Annual VES Awards ceremony will take place virtually on 6/7 April 2021. To find out more about our work on News of the World you can view our project breakdown here.
